Description
This Set of Maracas and Shakers will support children’s co-ordination as they play and experiment with the sounds that these traditional musical instruments create, understanding cause and effect as they shake the instrument. As children explore the percussion instruments, they will begin to recognise the texture of sound and the tone an object makes.
The shakers are brightly coloured, enticing children to pick up and explore them. Fairtrade and handmade in Asia using natural and woven materials, the instruments are an inviting early years resource. The larger maracas are hand painted in a range of designs and have a wrist strap for ease of children’s hands. They offer a lower pitch sound while the smaller wooden maracas offer a higher pitch tone to enable children to compare the sounds.
The Set of Maracas and Shakers are an excellent and fun motivation for increasing physical activity. Children will engage in moving their bodies as they dance to a beat and rhythm or use the resource to create games that require music to stop and start such as musical statues.
The Music Area is an invaluable area for active learning in EYFS and KS1. Exploring sound, dance and rhythm is a highly creative experience where children can express their ideas and feelings through another media.
Boost creative expression and support personal, social and emotional development in your classroom with this traditional early years resource set.
